How do you break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend without hurting their feelings?

just wondering. they seem to get insecure when you say, i need space. How do you break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend without hurting their feelings?
That's because ';I need space'; is kind of a lie. What you mean to say is, ';It doesn't seem to be working anymore. I'd like to try it separately now.'; And that's how it should be said - honestly. Yes, feelings most likely will be hurt, but that's life.

A friend is someone who tells you what you NEED to hear, instead of what you WANT to hear. If you respect the person, be straight up. Tell that person what you need to explain, and don't pussyfoot around with verbal blunders that never sound sincere. ';I don't feel like I did at first, and I'd like to give us a break.'; is probably best. But remind that person that you aren't leaving them as a friend, but just that as a relationship it's not working. If they get angry and want to lash out, then it definitely gives signs that it wasn't the right person. How do you break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend without hurting their feelings?
Say I dont think this is going to work out
Just be upfront and straight-forward, don't beat around the bush or come up with excuses. Just be sweet, gentle. Don't use harsh words. And try to remain friends.
I do believe that is something that you may not be able to avoid.
sometimes there's no easy way other than just being honest,if you don't want to date that person anymore then you just have to be upfront about it,otherwise you're leading them up a neverending road, best to be straight forward and say how you feel
Sorry but you can't break up with your Boyfrind/girlfriend without hurting there feelings. Trust me i've tried!
